Vodafone Group Plc (LON:VOD, NASDAQ:VOD) is one of the world's largest mobile communications companies, offering a range of products and services including voice, messaging, data and fixed-line solutions and devices.
Vodafone owns and operates networks in over 30 countries and has partner networks in over 40 additional countries. The company has a significant presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the United States through the Company's subsidiary undertakings, joint ventures, associated undertakings and investments. Vodafone is headquartered in Newbury, England, and has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange. Vodafone's shares are also listed on the NASDAQ as American Depository Receipts (ADRs), with the Bank of New York Mellon administering the ADR programme on behalf of Vodafone.
Vodafone was incorporated in 1984 as Racal Strategic Radio Limited. In 1988, 20 percent of the group was floated on the LSE as Racal Telecom Plc, whereas in 1991, Vodafone Group was listed on the LSE following demerger from Racal Telecom.
